On Saturday, for their first game the Valley United Falcons faced a tough Golden Valley team. The first half ended with the Falcons down 1-0 due to strong defensive pressure from both teams. Early in the second half the Falcon boys were down 2-0, but refused to let up their offensive drive. This proved successful when C.J. Kuplic scored, igniting the Falcon hopes of a comeback. Kuplic would score again with minutes left in the game to tie Golden Valley 2-2.
The Falcons returned to Rochester on Sunday with a tough task ahead. They faced Forest Lake knowing they would need a shut out and at least 3 goals to advance to the Championship game. A goal by Romero Reynoso and strong Falcon defense gave the Valley United team an early lead. Jack Rosenthal then scored to bring the lead to 2. An unintentional trip lead to a free kick for Forest Lake, and from 35 yards out their kicker made a perfect shot that entered the goal just shy of the top of the net. Valley United won the game 2-1, but did not proceed to the Championship game.
Overall it was a great weekend for the Valley United BU12 team. They should be proud of their team effort and their fight-to-the-finish attitude. They ended the season with a record of 7-0-1.
