COBRAS WIN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
On Saturday at 3pm, the Cobras faced the undefeated Monticello team. The Cobras dominated the first half of the game, but the score was 0-0. In the second half, Monticello dominated, however with some amazing saves by goalkeeper Atlee, we kept the score to a 0-0 tie.
The second group game was on Sunday at 8am. The field was covered with frost and the temperature was only 40 degrees. Every kick on the ball caused dew to fly in the air, and all the players had a hard time staying on their feet. The Cobras tied Mahtomedi 2-2. No tiebreaker rules applied, so a shootout was needed. It took 10 Cobras to win the shootout, and thereby advance to the Championship game.
For the Championship game at 1pm, the weather was great. The Cobras were excited to face friendly rivals from Dakota Rev, a previously undefeated team. The Cobras scored in the first half on a corner kick, and then held Dakota Rev scoreless, to win the game 1-0. Congrats to all Cobras, and thanks for bringing home a State Title!
