During the summer season, Valley United teams typically play in 3-6 weekend tournaments. During the fall season, tournaments are rare. This page is designed to assist the coach and team manager in choosing tournaments. Please note that everything here is a suggestion, and every team is free to make its own decisions.
Advice for U09-U10 Teams
Most Valley United U09/10 teams are happy with 3-4 total tournaments, which includes the Apple Valley Invitational weekend #1 and the MYSA Jamboree in mid-June. Many U09/10 teams also play in a tournament in the first half of May, either the Dakota REV or Eagan tournament. That leaves you to decide whether to add a fourth tournament to your calendar in late June. Popular options for late June include the Lakeville Pan-o-Prog or Woodbury tournament.
Note: Some tournaments offer an "Early Registration Discount" so be sure to check any tournaments your team is interested in.
Step 1: Register for the Apple Valley Invitational
This is a no-brainer, because it is close by and your team gets a free entry. This is the Club's own tournament, held at and near Eastview High School, during the first half of June. To learn more about our own tournament, look to the top menu and click on "Tournaments."
When you register your Valley United team in our own tournament, please select "PAY OFFLINE". Our tournament committee will then note that you are a Valley United team, and you will not be billed for participating.
Special Offer for Valley United U09/10 teams: If you choose to play in the MYSA Jamboree (this year held in Hastings), the Club picks up the $100 fee. ALTERNATIVELY, instead of going to the Jamboree, you can apply the $100 to a second weekend of play in the Apple Valley Invitational. In other words, your team's cost for the second weekend is $215, which is $100 off the regular price. You will need to register twice, and please choose "PAY OFFLINE" for both your registrations. The Club treasurer will track the double registrations, bill your U9 or U10 team account $215, and send the money to the tournament account.
Step 2: Shop for other tournaments
Most Valley United teams play only in MYSA-sponsored tournaments. You can find those at the link below.
Sometime during January, MYSA publishes a list of the Minnesota and Wisconsin tournaments that are scheduled for the upcoming summer. Most Valley United teams play only at tournaments that can be found at the MYSA site, so this is the only link most managers/coaches use to shop for tournaments.
