Welcome!

The success of Valley United depends on our volunteer coaches.  While the parents of a few teams have decided to use professional coaches, 90% of our teams depend entirely on volunteer coaches.  This is true for Gold and C3 teams, all the way up to Premier teams.  We are very grateful to our volunteer coaches.

How we select our coaches

First, we ask every parent if they want to volunteer as a coach.  We ask them this when they register their child to play.  Alternatively, a parent can volunteer by sending an email to our Director of Coaching (jm.dawson@comcast.net).  If this will be your first time coaching with Valley United, please complete our coaching application, so that we can get to know you better: Click here to access online Coach Application 

For the summer season teams, coaches are selected AFTER the tryouts are complete, and players are assigned to teams.  THEN, for each team, we look to see which parents have volunteered to coach.  Head coaches are selected by a panel of VUSC board members.  Head coaches then are empowered to select their assistant coaches.  We believe that most teams should have 2 assistant coaches, even the youngest teams with only 9 on the roster.
 
For fall season, teams are usually a continuation of the summer season teams, and the coaches and players stay in place.  For this reason, coaches for the fall season may be known and announced before registration closes.  That's never the case for summer, where parent coaches are only selected AFTER the players are assigned to teams.
