Supplemental Tryout
Coaches: After the "big" tryouts are over, new prospects may come along. If there is a prospect that wants to join your team, here's the process that must be followed.
1) You confirm that the prospect is eligible to join the team. Check the birthdate, and confirm that the player is not already committed to another club at the same competitive level or higher.
2) The prospective player must register and pay at least $125 if it is before November 1. After November 1, the prospective player must pay the full registration fee to be considered. Once the payment is made, the player is bound to Valley United, and must play with your team if accepted by our Club.
3) You telephone the Boys or Girls director to discuss whether a supplemental tryout is necessary. If it is necessary, then...
4) You identify a practice time that works for your current team, the prospective player, and other players who may want to join the supplemental when it is publicized. Email the time, date, and location of the practice to the Boys/Girls director.
5) The Boys/Girls director arranges for two board members to observe the tryout.
6) The Boys/Girls director publicizes the details of the tryout to players on 'lower' teams, or to any others who are known to want to join your team. Publicize may include email, posting to the VUSC website, etc.
7) At the tryout itself, you organize the practice as you see fit, allowing the candidates to interact with existing players.
8) After the tryout, you discuss the results with the Board observers. They must approve your decision to add the player to your team.
