VAA recognizes 11 Valley United coaches nominated by parents

Valley Athletic Association, the parent organization of Valley United, takes time at the end of each year to recognize coaches from both traveling programs and community programs.  Parents from across all of VAA's traveling sports nominated 16 coaches for the Coach of the Year award.  Of those 16 nominations, 11 were for Valley United coaches.

We're pleased to announce that Rich Buckley was selected by the VAA Board to win the Coach of the Year award for 2011.  Rich and his wife Sherra are long-time volunteers, and Rich has coached teams in both the community and traveling programs.  In 2011, he coached the Boys U11 C3 team in both the summer and fall, and his summer team won MYSA's rare OATHS award for outstanding sportsmanship.  Congratulations to Rich!

Congratulations also to the ten other Coach of the Year nominees:  Claude Leroux (BU10); Derrick Cobb (BU11); George Singer (BU10); Jim Friedel (BU13); Marc Sutton (BU17); Tom Lillie (BU17); Jon Askvig (GU11); Paul Askvig (GU11); Greg Nelson (GU11); Mike Taylor (GU11); and Johnny Gill (GU14).  Thanks, coaches for the outstanding efforts you make for our kids.

Thanks also to our parents for taking time to show their appreciation to our coaches.
